Cheadle Hulme Primary School celebrates Safer Internet Day
For this year’s Safer Internet Day, pupils across our school have been busy learning about how they can keep themselves and others safe online.
At the start of the day, we heard from members of our Pupil Parliament.
The Department for Digital Culture helped lead a whole school assembly in the morning, telling their peers all about what Safer Internet Day is and why it is important.
In the Classroom
In Pre-School, the children met Smartie the Penguin. He reminded them that staying safe is always important when they are playing games or watching shows on their tablets.
Reception also met Smartie the Penguin.
They made their own penguins and learned the very helpful song; ‘before you tap and click…you need to stop and think and tell someone!’
Year 1 read the online safety story of ‘ Hanni and the Magic Window‘ and drew pictures of what they would love to see through a magic window.
The children also looked at different scenarios and thought about how they could ask for help in each situation.
In Year 2, pupils had fun collaborating and sharing ideas on what online safety means to them.
They worked together to think of different ways they can stay safe online.
Pupils in Year 3 enjoyed working collaboratively to customise a Safer Internet Day social media template.
They held class discussions about what online safety meant to them and told each other about how they use the internet.
Safer Internet Day aims to educate and inform people of all ages about how to keep themselves and others safe online.
The campaign reminds us that we all have a role to play in creating and maintaining a better online world.
