Year 1

Summer Term in Year 1

The inspirational texts on our bookshelf will inspire our learning across the curriculum.

During the Summer term in Year 1, we will read a variety of inspirational and carefully curated texts that explore the character traits of kindness, citizenship, integrity, curiosity, bravery and gratitude. We will start by exploring the book ‘Little Red Reading Hood’ to develop our narrative story retelling skills, using language of fairy tales. We will also use the wonderful text ‘Beegu’ as inspiration for our non-chronological reports.

The Character Traits that underpin the curriculum at Cheadle Hulme Primary School with associated icons - bravery, citizenship, curiosity, gratitude, integrity and kindness.

Summer Bookshelf

Through tales of courage, resilience, and overcoming obstacles, these books help to teach the children about the world we live in and equips them with the necessary skills to thrive throughout their school journey.
