How We Work with Parents

At Cheadle Hulme Pre-School we recognise that a child’s first teachers are their parents and carers and we therefore value strong links between Home and Pre-School. Before your child starts with us we offer a number of ‘settling in sessions’ to so that your child feels happy and safe in our care.

All children attending Cheadle Hulme Pre-School have a personal online ‘Learning Journey’ where we share photos, observations and comments relating to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. This enables us to build up a record of each child’s learning and achievements during their time with us. The online system we use is called Tapestry.

Parents and Carers can also add photos, observations and comments about the learning you have seen outside of Pre-School. This can help us to personalise your child’s provision at Pre-School by tapping into their interests and encouraging new experiences.

Alongside Tapestry each child has a Learning Journey Book which contains, pictures, drawings, reports and much more. This book will be sent home as your child transitions into Reception, however it is always available to see throughout the year.

In addition to verbal feedback at the end of each day, we summarise learning and development each term and document progress. We will share this with you and ask for your feedback. We also hold Parents’ Evenings twice a year.

Our son has attended different nurseries in the last few years for different reasons. Your Pre-School is by far the best setting we have considered sending him to. From the teacher, down to the newer staff they really take their time to get to know us, everyone is an outstanding practitioner. The education provided is great, as are the facilities within the Pre-School. Parents feel involved with their child’s education through regular shared observations. It has been a great experience so far, thank you!

I just wanted to say a big thank you to yourself and the rest of the Pre-School Team for helping my son settle in so well. You have all been so understanding and he absolutely loves coming to school. He talks about it on a daily basis! So thank you for making the transition for both of us a smooth one, especially when he hasn’t been used to a Pre-School setting before! It’s apparent how passionate you all are and how much you care about the children.
