Safeguarding

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as: protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children’s mental health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and acting to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Within the Laurus Trust, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Our approach is child-centred and we consider, at all times, what is in the best interest of the child.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Cheadle Hulme Primary School is Ryan Thompson, Head of School. Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) are Lauren Illidge (Assistant Head for Inclusion) and Dominic Coyle (Assistant Head for Pupil Outcomes).

If you have a concern regarding the welfare of a child who attends Cheadle Hulme Primary School, please ask to speak to a member of the safeguarding team on 0161 507 5400 or [email protected]

Further advice and guidance can also be sought from the Multi Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub (MASSH) on 0161 474 4734.
