World Book Day took place on Thursday 7th March 2024.

This annual celebration of authors, illustrators, books and the joy of reading is definitely something we have looked forward to each year!

The children and teachers had a great time dressing up as their favourite characters for the occasion. The day was filled with fun and interactive activities that the pupils really enjoyed.

To start off the day, the whole school joined together for the assembly where we learnt the meaning of World Book Day, discussed our theme and also talked about how important it is that children enjoy reading as it is the bedrock of our curriculum and the heart of everything we do.

Cheadle Hulme Primary School teachers dressed up for World Book Day.

Throughout the day, children took part in activities such as:

  • Drawing pictures based on class books
  • Class circle time where the children spoke about what character they came as and why
  • Secret reader where a different teacher reads their favourite story for the class
  • Each house took part in a WBD24 quiz about all about our bookshelf texts
  • Some pupils created their own story book
  • Creative and Imaginative writing
